Space Expo (Expo Table Event):

April 6, New England Air Museum, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. ASGH will have a table set up again this year to promote our Club.

Cosmic Cultures (Speaking/Lecture Event):

April 6, Astronomy Day. Tyrell Middle School, 500 Todd Rd, Wolcott.  Approx 80 youth participants. This is the 2nd of our classroom events for Cosmic Culture.  The presentation should be an activity/lesson on Earth-Sun-Moon-System, Solar System, understanding the night sky, comets, etc.

Cosmic Cultures (Speaking/Lecture Event):

June 24-28, Summer Program Approx 80 youth participants. This will be the 3rd (and possibly more) of our classroom events for Cosmic Cultures. ASGH members are welcome to do one or more events during the week. Content to be determined.

Cosmic Cultures (Stargazing Event):

Date TBD. Approx 80 youth participants. The Cosmic Cultures program has requested that ASGH facilitate one evening stargazing event for the kids.  This event was originally planned for late Fall of 2018 but was postponed due to weather.

Bristol Public Library (Stargazing Event):

Date TBD between 4th week of June and 3rd week of August. Approx 20 youth participants w/family and/or adult chaperones. The Bristol Pubic Library will be hosting a Space themed Summer program, including a five week scout program for Astronomy badges. They are asking if ASGH can host a stargazing event, including an intro to the telescope.

Rocky Hill Public Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

Date(s) TBD between June 11 and the end of August, at the Cora Belden Library in Rocky Hill.  Approx 20 youth participants of various ages. Similar to the Bristol Pubic Library, the Cora Belden Library in Rocky Hill is planning a space-themed summer.  They are asking if ASGH can do one or two short talks during the summer, and host a stargazing event in August.

Town of Ellington Trails Committee (Stargazing Event):

August 15, time TBD. Approx 20-40 participants. The Town of Ellington Trails Committee is planning a Moonlight Hike to promote the town’s trail system.  They have picked two possible nights, both full moon nights to promote hike safety.  The hiking trail includes an open field with an accessible road and parking lot where we can easily set up.

Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation (Stargazing Event):

September 19, 7:30-9:30 PM. Approx 20-40 participants. The Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation is planning its first Stargazing Night at Hartford’s historic Cedar Hill Cemetery.  This will be a free event.  Guests will be asked to pre-register. ASGH has volunteered to do a short outdoor talk followed by a stargazing session. NOTE that for safety reasons the event is taking place prior to astronomical sunset. Possible bright objects to view will include the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn.

Glastonbury CT Audubon Society (Stargazing Event):

Date TBD. The Glastonbury CT Audubon Society is planning on bringing in an astronomy professor from a local college for a lecture.  They would like to combine this with an evening of stargazing.  Details will be forthcoming.
