1) Cosmic Cultures II Stargazing

November 16, 2018 (cancelled due to school closures, to be re-scheduled for a date after Christmas)
Mead School
75 Ford Street
Ansonia, CT

This is our one ‘away’ stargazing event planned in support of Cosmic Cultures. There will be ~90 5th graders, mostly from lower income backgrounds. Our participation will provide them with an extraordinary opportunity to see sights they may never get to see otherwise.
The moon will be 58% illuminated and should be quite visible before the end of astronomical twilight.
2-3 more Club members are needed, setup is around 5pm.

2) Annual Scouts Campout

November 10, 2018 (cancelled due to predicted poor weather conditions)
Sage Park
1499 Berlin Turnpike (Suranna Drive)
Berlin, CT

The Berlin Boy Scouts are having an annual campout and ASGH has been invited to bring a few telescopes. Sage Park is a town sports park that the Scouts have permission to use. Campfire is included.
Club members should arrive between 5:30 and 6:00 pm for equipment setup. We’re invited to join the Scout Troop for burgers/hot dogs between 6:30 and 7:00 pm, stargazing will take place between 7:30 and 9:00 pm.

3) Shoreline Trolley Museum Astronomy Night
Saturday, November 17, 2018
17 River Street,

East Haven, CT

ASGH volunteers are asked to arrive at 3pm to board the trolley for a scenic ride to the stargazing spot out on the marsh. ASGH will participate in scout presentations between 4pm and 6pm. Stargazing in the marsh is between 6pm and 8pm for scouts and general public. NOTE: This date conflicts with our monthly public night at the Van Vleck Observatory. We need to make sure we have both sufficiently staffed.
