Cosmic Cultures (Speaking/Lecture Event):

June 24-28, Summer Program Approx 80 youth participants. This will be the 3rd of our classroom events for Cosmic Cultures. ASGH members are welcome to do one or more events during the week. Content to be determined.

Bristol Public Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

July 8, 6:00 – 7:30pm. Approx 20 youth participants w/family and/or adult chaperones. The Bristol Public Library will be hosting a Space themed Summer program, including a five-week Girl Scout program for Astronomy badges. They are asking if ASGH can host a stargazing event, including an intro to the telescope.

Scotland Public Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

July 11. 9pm. Approx 12-20 participants or possibly more, family groups. The Scotland Public Library will be hosting a Space themed Summer reading program. They are asking if ASGH can do a short stargazing lecture followed by stargazing.

East Hartford Public Library Children’s Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

July 17, 7:30pm.  The Children’s Library is looking for a program in the evening about telescopes and the night sky, followed by a stargazing session.

Enfield Public Library Children’s Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

July 30.  Time 7:45pm.  Event details TBD.  The Children’s Library is looking for a presentation in the evening, theme “A Universe of Stories”, followed by stargazing.

Rocky Hill Public Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

August 6, 8pm, at the Cora Belden Library in Rocky Hill.  Approx 20 youth participants of various ages. Similar to the Bristol Public Library, the Cora Belden Library in Rocky Hill is planning a space-themed summer.  They are asking if ASGH can do a short talk followed by stargazing.

Lebanon Campground Stargazing Party (Stargazing Event):

Town of Ellington Trails Committee (Stargazing Event):

August 15, Approx 30-40 participants. The Town of Ellington Trails Committee is planning a Moonlight Hike at 7:30pm to promote the town’s trail system.  The night picked is a full moon night to promote hiking safety.  The trail includes an open field with an accessible road and parking lot where we can easily set up. ASGH setup can begin at 7pm, hikers should return at 8:30 pm, a few participants may choose to stay and observe instead of hiking. Simsbury Public Library (Lecture):

August 19, time TBD.  The Simsbury Public Library will be hosting a Space themed Summer reading program.  The library is reaching out to see if ASGH offers lectures to the public or only stargazing outreach.  Their summer reading theme this year is Space and a program on astronomy would fit in perfectly.

Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation (Stargazing Event):

September 19, 7:30-9:30 PM. Approx 20-40 participants. The Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation is planning its first Stargazing Night at Hartford’s historic Cedar Hill Cemetery.  This will be a free event.  Guests will be asked to pre-register. ASGH has volunteered to do a short outdoor talk followed by a stargazing session. NOTE that for safety reasons the event is taking place prior to astronomical sunset. Possible bright objects to view will include the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn.

Willington Public Library (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

October 22 (rain date October 29).  Approx 30 participants of various ages. Similar to the other libraries in the state, the Willington Public Library is planning a space-themed summer.  They are happy to hold off their outreach until October in deference to our busy schedule.  They are asking if ASGH can do a short talk followed by stargazing.

Shoreline Trolley Museum (Lecture/Stargazing Event):

November 16, time 3pm – TBD.  ASGH volunteers will be asked to arrive at the trolley museum at 3pm to board the trolley for a scenic ride to the stargazing spot out on the marsh.
ASGH will participate in scout presentations between 4pm and 6pm.
Stargazing in the marsh between 6pm and 8pm for scouts and general public.
